Still single...

Here are some wonderful animals still available for adoption who were profiled in our "Single of the Week" column.

Amaryllis

A beautiful flower that grows singularly and majestically; that would be an accurate description of this little tortoiseshell cat, there isn’t much of her but what there is certainly counts.

Her origins are that of a starving little waif in our largest service town, Laconia.  Of course she was a cute kitten, and a rambunctious amusing teenager, but maturity, not being spayed, possibly a litter of kittens already produced and folks; it isn’t so much fun anymore.  It would have been so easy to apply for help through the Spay Neuter Assistance Programme, low cost sterilization surgery for your pet; instead, it was just easier to leave her on the streets to fend for herself.

Naturally, Amaryllis was perturbed to find herself at the shelter but she has the master suite, a wonderful vantage point to be queen over all she surveys.  A cool cat, beautiful flame coloured eyes, and a passionate nature to match. Your home would be filled with fun and frolic if you adopted her.

Visit her today at New Hampshire Humane Society.

A rowdy Viking for sure who got into some trouble in his native Norway by way of Iceland, ultimately landing in Greenland; certain aspects of this famous Norseman could be apparent in his feline namesake, Eric The Red.

Eric came from a lovely home but he just couldn’t get along with the second in command cat, that throne only has room for one handsome redhead.

This beefy orange boy is an independent type, fond of catnip mice, possibly the real thing too if he can go outside and do a spot of hunting on his own. Believe it or not, he’s used to chickens, [the new fashionable pet], dare we suggest he’s been hanging out with a bunch of New Hampshire RED’s!

Eric has one condition, he would very much like to be top and only cat, and frankly, who would have the energy for more than one like him anyway.

Looking for an executive type cat, that strong willed Eric the Red is the cat for you!

Suzie Q

“NO PETS ALLOWED IN MEMPHIS TENNESSEE”

Comments as they were written by the former owners of Suzie Q’s on her intake sheet at New Hampshire Humane Society. Now, the English grammar buffs will spot right away this statement contains a double entendre, but even the staff at the shelter can see humour in a decidedly unfriendly set of circumstances. Of course, the state of Tennessee and the City of Memphis are pet friendly, one would assume, only that the owners were not willing to take lovely Suzie Q on that long journey south.

This endearing feline, who could pass for a Persian, is the sweetest lady you will ever meet. She plays catch and retrieve; she drinks water from the faucet, and loves to ride in the car…but not all the way to Memphis.

Time to groom her beautiful coat is needed, and energy to play cute little cat games a plus.  Consider Suzie Q please, she will fill your home with joy.

Check www.nhhumane.org  for further details, or call 524-3252 and ask for the feline department.
