Noble, stoic Ceasar, this handsome
boy is a good shepherd indeed. Large, gentle, intelligent, and very,
very sad.
Old age does not mean the end of
life at New Hampshire Humane Society, but it will make it a little
trickier for us to find a loving home. Most folks come to the
shelter looking for young, cute, and fluffy, not a 90lb elderly dog.
Ceasar was wrenchingly surrendered
by owners in tears who had been forced to choose between staying at
their rental property, or exclusion of this four-legged family
member who for nine years has shared their lives.
Ceasar’s family found themselves in
the all too common emotional trap: caught in the foreclosure
debacle, no longer owning a home, they have joined the growing
number of folks forced to rent – enter the insurance ‘will not write
for’ list. He has never so much as looked sideways at anyone, let
alone bitten – yet based on statistics, he now resides at the Humane
Society.
He is sad, lonely, and despondent.
His hips hurt him badly; German Shepherds so often in later life
suffer from arthritis and other orthopedic issues. He has an
inflammatory condition that shelter staff is currently treating, all
this turmoil for a gentle giant who absolutely does not deserve the
hand he has been dealt...
We hope for a
hospice home for lovely Ceasar.
Just a warm bed, and kind folk who
will love him for the remaining time that he has on the earth…
